Keegan is a 3 year old Merle
Keegan originally came into rescue as an owner turn-in at
the age of 1.5 years, as he suffered from separation
anxiety and destructive behavior in that home. Keegan is
deaf since birth but he has learned some hand signals.

Over the past two years we have had several families
interested in Keegan and have worked with different
families for them to adopt. It hasn't worked out for our
young boy and Keegan needs a family that will work with
him through thick and thin! He does very well in his foster
home, although we have learned he will need a dog door
and this is a must! He really needs a family that doesn't
have a lot of expectations...he loves to snuggle and likes
short walks, he just wants to be by your side at all times!
Keegan is neutered and current on all his shots. Please
contact Cindy at
reelracer@aol.com for more information
about this special Sheltie.
Sammie is an 8 year old Tri
Sammie is an 8 year old spayed tricolor female with the cutest
freckles on her nose. She is housebroken and knows how to use
the doggy door. When she came to us she was not a well dog.
She has had her teeth cleaned, had a benign lump removed from
her tail and is current on vaccinations.  After testing, we found out
that she has Cushing’s disease which was causing hair loss,
panting and excessive thirst and hunger. These symptoms are
responding well to daily liquid medication which she will need the
rest of her life.
Sammie has settled in nicely into her foster home and gets along
with the other dogs. There are no children or cats in this home so
we’re not sure how she would respond to them. She would
probably do best in an adult home where she’ll get lots of
attention and good care. In return, she will be your devoted
companion, content to follow you everywhere.
Casper is a nine year old male Sheltie that was given up to
our rescue. He came from a family whose kids grew and
had no time for him. He was moved to the side of the yard
in a makeshift run where he spent the last two and a half
years mainly outside except in extreme heat when he was
moved to the utility room.  As is our policy, immediately
upon intake Casper became an inside dog and despite his
recent outside background has actually done very well.
He seems to prefer laying on the floor pillows and we are
very sure he appreciates the air conditioning.  He has
been fairly inconsistent with the other dogs.  He
periodically tries to keep up with the youngsters romping
in the backyard and then occasionally will “show his
displeasure” with them bothering him.  Ultimately, we think
he would do best with less active dogs.  We think he would
be fine with cats.  He is pretty low key and we think he
would be best with older kids.  Casper is becoming more
involved in the foster family and following the parents
around and greeting them when they come home.  Casper
is probably an average barker and certainly not a problem.
We think he would enjoy getting out on reasonable walks.
Boots is a 4 year old Sable
Boots is a recent turn in from a
family whose living arrangements
caused him to be relinquished.
Boots walks well on the leash. He
is neutered and will do best in a
home with no children. More
information soon!
Casper is a nine year old Tri
Casey is a 3 year old Sable
Jewel is a 6 year old Sable
Sparky is about a nine year old tr-factored male sheltie.
Little on the large side for a sheltie at 42 pounds.  Could
stand to lose a few pounds but he will always be a little
bigger.  He was turned into our program from his owner
who was leaving the country.  Sparky has been a well-
behaved and low-key sheltie in his foster home and been
fine with the multiple other dogs in the household.  He is
curious and seems to enjoy getting out on his walks.  In
other words, he still has a “spark”.  He has not been much
of a barker.  We think he would be fine as an only dog or
would get along with all but the most insistently playful
dogs.  We think he will be fine with cats.  We think he would
be a good family dog.  He is housetrained and does well in
the car.  He needs to take daily thyroid medicine.
Andre is a very very big handsome dude who is estimated to
be about six years old.   We got him from Animal Control (the
pound) where he somehow ended up.  They reported that his
owner was in the hospital but for whatever reason did not
remove him.  Andre is settling into the foster home and with
the several other dogs.  He can be a devoted guy and has no
problem jumping on the bed or couch to sleep or snuggle
with the foster parents.  He shows minimal interest in the
other dogs and this would suggest that he would be fine as an
only guy or is not likely to actually play or interact with other
dogs in the household.  We think he would be fine with cats.
Andre can get exciteable with strangers and is very alert.  He
does tend to bark when he gets excited.  Due to his
excitability we think he would be best with older kids.  Andre
is housetrained.  He rides well in the car.  Andre is neutered
and appears to be in good health although he could certainly
lose a few pounds (even with a diet he will always be a big
guy)
Sparky is a nine year old Tri
Andre is a 6 year old Sable
Sweetie is a 10 year old Sable
Casey is easy going, very devoted guy, sweet,
friendly. He would get on the couch if allowed
but very large and still a bit over weight at 41
pounds.

Casey would be okay as an only dog but also
does well with others. He is crate trained
although doesn't seem to care for it, house
trained and neutered. Easy going guy, not a
huge barker but when he gets excited he will
barks like when another Sheltie in his foster
home spins in circles at meal time, Casey will
bark at her like she has a problem...hee, hee...
Lizzy is a 10 year old Blue Merle
I came up from the Tucson Shelter and was given
this FABULOUS hair do, so I have been told.  What
do you think? Ahh . . . No!?  Well I guess I won’t go
to a place that a poodle would recommend!

When my fur grows out, I will be cute again.  Just
look at those baby browns, and cute one up & the
other down.  Who can resist that?  I am a little over
weight & I need a soft food or small crunchy diet
because I am missing some teeth.  (Don’t tell
anyone, but they are missing in the front so I can’t
bite or nip anyone)  What teeth I do have are in
good shape.  I am great with kids & kitties.  I have
3 foster sisters & we get along pretty good.  I am
spayed & I have all my shots, so I am ready to go to
my forever home.
Sweetie is as we have named her, an incredibly sweet
tempered dog. She is friendly, extremely quiet (we
have yet to hear her bark), and LOVES to go for walks.
She jumps for joy when she sees her leash. Because of
her age, short walks are her speed, not runs or hikes.
She is housebroken and also loves riding in the car.
She is very affectionate and nudges you to keep
petting her, she never tires of it.

Sweetie was brutally attacked by a rotweiller and we
want to place her in a home with no dogs who might
hurt her, preferably in a home with no dogs. She would
be fine with cats too. Sweetie will need medication for a
mild heart problem.
Shelby is an 11 year old Sable
Shelby is a delightful little approximately eleven year old
blind and virtually deaf female.  Some would say that those
impediments were overwhelming but they have not met
Shelby nor probably experienced other dogs with similar
situations.  Shelby was brought into our rescue from
another rescue that had originally placed her a couple of
years ago but her older owner was experiencing dementia
and had to be moved to a nursing home.  Shelby was
returned to the original all breed rescue but they really had
too many dogs and were not equipped to give Shelby the
quieter household they felt she deserved.  In her current
home Shelby immediately took to “mapping” out the place
and is showing a remarkable ability to find the door coming
into the house, water bowl, etc.  Like many of the older
dogs she spends a fair amount of time in “dreamland” but
that is fine, she deserves it.  She seems housetrained.
Doesn’t bark much.  All in all would do best with a quieter
household.  She can’t reasonably be expected to interact
much with kids so a household with kids is probably not a
good fit.  Cats should be fine.
Jewel is a six year old sheltie.  She is a bit taller than most
shelties, and could stand to lose several pounds.  She is currently
on a diet, and is doing well.  She is sable, and her coat is currently
trimmed for summer.

Jewel is laid back, gentle and very sweet.  She enjoys being with
people, but is not demanding or constantly under your feet.  She
will follow you from room to room, as long as it isn't her nap time.
She does enjoy chasing her squeaky tennis ball and stuffed toys,
but not for very long.  She also loves to be petted and have her
belly rubbed.  Jewel walks nicely on a leash.

Jewel is currently in a foster home with two other larger female
dogs.  While she seems to enjoy their company, she does like to
have her own space, and will bark if she feels that one of them
gets too close, especially if she is napping.  She does not like
sharing her toys.  She may do better with smaller or male dogs, or
possibly would enjoy being the only dog in the family.
